Tom’s Blog

This is the first of what we hope will be a regular series of blogs from East Riding Theatre. Up until the end of December, the theatre had a regular column in the Beverley Advertiser and Sue Kirkman, Chris Wade and myself took it in turns to write a short piece with all the latest news from ERT. Sadly, like so many other local newspapers, the Advertiser closed its doors, so rather than stop our weekly articles we have decided to carry on but in the form of a blog. I hope you will enjoy reading them. We will keep you up to date with all that is going on at the theatre and share a bit of gossip as well.

The big news at the moment is the success of our Christmas show, It’s a Wonderful Life. The reviews have been outstanding and audience reaction excellent. The show is nearly sold out, but a few tickets are still available if you haven’t booked yet.

We also have our new brochure out with the theatre programme up to June of 2018. There is a lot in it including our next ERT production, Good People, scheduled for March. It also has the line-up for the Stage4Beverley, our winter music festival in February. This is the second year of the festival and should be very popular.

Finally, if you caught Sue Kirkman’s last article in the Beverley Advertiser you will know we have embarked on a fundraising programme to pay for a new lighting rig for the theatre. The lighting we have was put together in a hurry with very little money and despite the undoubted skill and commitment of our technical team, it needs to be replaced. You can get involved by buying a leaf with your name on it to go on our lighting tree, in the main corridor. The tree will be there for five years and will celebrate the support we have had for this important project. A leaf can cost as little as £25 and we have already sold quite a few!
