Other Lives Productions present their latest touring show, The Catch. Performing at the East Riding Theatre from 26th – 30th October.

Written by Nick Darke, The Catch concerns the fishing community. In Padstow, Cornwall, two fishermen suffering the effects of the EU quota system, are wondering how to supplement their income and naively decide to use their lobster pots to go in for a little extra-curricular drug smuggling.

The dodgy local character with whom they are dealing is playing a double game with them, and also with the daughter of one of the fishermen.

Although the play is a comedy, topically post-Brexit, it raises interesting issues about the concerns and challenges faced by fishermen who feel that they have again been let down despite all the pre-Brexit talk of protecting them. This play also raises issues about sustainability in the environment.

Nick, a Cornishman himself, has written plays for the RSC, National Theatre, Royal Court, Kneehigh and other companies. Feedback after the Other Lives Production of Landmarks in Autumn 2019 registered a chorus of “more Nick Darke, please!”
