Another phone call in the middle of the night.

Another long drive through the dark.

Another filthy basement to await the victim.

And then the waiting.

And the waiting.

And the waiting.

The Dumb Waiter.

The wait is over.

Harold Pinter’s early masterpiece The Dumb Waiter is a dark tragicomedy set in a dingy basement where two hitmen, Ben and Gus, wait on orders for their next job. As the atmosphere becomes stale and their differences become more visible, a deep-seated tension begins to stifle their relationship.

Directed by critically acclaimed actor and director, Martin Hutson whose work includes; Twelfth Night, Henry V, and Art which he directed for ERT. Starring Frazer Hammill and Nick Figgis as Ben and Gus, who both recently appeared in John Godber’s adaptation of Moby Dick

The Dumb Waiter recaptures and awakens the thrill of LIVE theatre, immersing the audience in the entertaining genius of Pinter’s widely celebrated play.

Running from the 9th to 25th September, live audiences return for ERT’s first in-house production since 2019.

The wait is finally… over.
