The Festival Players present a thrilling production of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, a fast-paced and joyfully chaotic play packed with mistaken identities, physical comedy, and live music. Suitable for all ages, this production is designed to be both accessible and hugely entertaining, whether you’re a Shakespeare enthusiast or completely new to his work.

One of Shakespeare’s earliest plays, The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins – two brothers and their servants – who were separated in a shipwreck as children. Years later, by pure coincidence, they find themselves in the same town on the same day. What follows is a brilliantly crafted whirlwind of confusion. Husbands appear to betray their wives, servants disobey their masters, and people are locked out of their own homes, all because no one can tell the twins apart.

The Festival Players bring their signature style to this production, combining an all-male cast, traditional costume, and original live music composed by Johnny Coppin. Their energetic performances and clear storytelling make Shakespeare’s language easy to follow while maintaining the richness of the original text.

With over 40 years of experience touring across the UK and internationally, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, engaging theatre in beautiful outdoor settings. Their productions are known for their warmth, humour, and ability to connect with audiences of all backgrounds. Bring a picnic, sit back, and enjoy an evening of laughter, music, and theatrical magic. The Comedy of Errors is a joyful celebration of confusion, coincidence, and the enduring power of live performance.
