The Horizon Stage – Some of the best young musical – Featuring – Rillen, The Rookery & more
Horizon Stage showcasing the cream of the young, emerging talent on the folk and roots music scene
The Horizon Stage has become one our most popular events featuring young, emerging musicians and singers from around the country. It takes place in the informal setting of the theatre’s Café Bar, giving a relaxed feel to the event.
Rillen is a young English folk trio consisting of Piers Gorick on guitar, Eleanor Kerr on fiddle and Ben Prout on bouzouki and melodeon. They write primarily self-penned tunes in an English style about the places around them, their inhabitants and the old stories which inspire them, performing in a partially improvised style which lends itself to the creativity and freedom ingrained in the genre.

The Rookery is a new North-East based folk trio comprised of Eleanor Kerr on vocals and violin, Poppy Bedford on vocals and Bodhran, and Emma Doenges on vocals and guitar; they perform traditional songs and tunes as well as their own pieces, usually based on mythology, the supernatural or birds.
