Recurring Themes and Lucid Dreams

Shelley Sargeant is a Beverley based artist and daughter of local renowned artist Gary Sargeant. She treats her art as a kind of “therapy”, using traditional tactile techniques to create her collage pieces, shying away from the rise of digital media, to take an old-school approach with scissors and glue. This way of working feeds Shelley’s self-expression, as she takes inspiration from pop-art and music artists, to create pieces that are beautifully unique, with a lively character and a strong sense of self.

This exhibition at East Riding Theatre marks Shelley’s second ever exhibition, with her first premiering in February of 2026. While a new experience, she is excited to share her work, and let her artistic vision fly free in front of a local audience.

Join Shelley for a preview event, in the East Riding Theatre Café Bar, on Saturday 28th March 12:00 – 14:00 for an opportunity to talk to the artist while enjoying the exhibition.
