The Big Beverley Comedy Night returns to ERT in May…

It’s such a treat to welcome Hayley Ellis to headline for us – a truly up-and-coming comedian, teetering on the edge of the Big Time.  As well as her own busy schedules and her own tour, she comes to us having supported Sarah Millican on her latest tour – and the tour before that!

Hayley is a former regular contributor for “Russell Howard’s Good News” and has also written for “8 out of 10 Cats”, both on TV. She has appeared on MTV’s “Why aye love Geordie Shore” and “Comedy Set Lists” for Virgin television. She can also sometimes be heard on your wireless (Absolute Radio) and her sketches and jokes have appeared on “Newsjack” (Radio 4).

Winner Best Show – NW Comedy Awards 2022

Winner Best MC – NW Comedy Awards 2022

Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year finalist

“Brilliantly funny and a joy to watch” – Sarah Millican

“Hayley is a proper comic, funny, relatable and one to watch” – Jason Manford

“Sharp, clever, and very funny” – The Sunday Post

“Hayley Ellis is fast becoming Manchester’s Funniest female”  the late Steve Wright, Radio 2

“Destined for comedy greatness. Don’t be surprised if you see Hayley Ellis on your TV soon. One of the hottest comedy prospects going.” – Jim Salveson, Producer XFM Manchester Breakfast Show

Martin Mor makes a very welcome return to Beverley, with new material as he warms up for his Edinburgh Fringe Run.

Originally a circus acrobat, Martin has established himself as one of the UK’s most popular and in-demand comedians, having performed in venues as diverse as the Hammersmith Apollo, an Italian prison and, creating the world record for the highest altitude comedy show at 17,600ft, Mount Everest basecamp.

Martin has been the support act of choice for; Frankie Boyle, Jack Dee, Lee Evans, Jasper Carrot, Johnny Vegas, Steve Coogan.  He has written for some of the biggest names in British comedy. Martin has made numerous appearances on radio and television and also performs at comedy, music, and arts festivals around the world.

“Explosive and visual comedian who should carry a government health warning” – City Life

“Martin is the act that has influenced me the most, the UK comedy circuit would not be the same without him” – Frankie Boyle.

We’ve got Tom Little too. In 2015 he won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (an award also won by acts such as Johnny Vegas, Jason Manford, Rhod Gilbert and Romesh Ranganathan) which he never stops banging on about. He was also a BBC Radio New Comedy Award finalist.

His 2021 Edinburgh Fringe Show, “Tom Little Makes A Triumphant Return to Stand Up”, was a sell-out success:

Little is a skinny bundle of nervous energy and grinning hypomania, thundering his way from joke to joke with barely a pause for breath. He admits to us that nothing terrifies him more than on-stage silence, and he does his very best to ensure that we never have to endure even a millisecond of it.’” – The Wee Review

‘A huge talent….You will love it ‘ – The Scotsman

‘The real deal. An instinctive comedian with oodles of charm and a quirky, frenetic intensity…. he could end up in movies’ – The Spectator

‘His elevation to TV panel show favourite is surely only a matter of time’ – TheWeeReview.com

‘An unashamed crowd-pleaser’ – BeyondTheJoke.co.uk’

‘Gut-wrenchingly funny’  – FringeReview.co.uk

And, of course, our regular MC – the multi-award-winning, cheekiest chap around: Jack Gleadow.  Jack is in so much demand – recently he escaped to sea, but once he was recognised, was put to work entertaining the passengers sailing round Florida and the Caribbean.  Tough work – but someone’s got to do it.

Leicester Mercury Awards – Comedian of the Year.

Yorkshire Comedy Awards 2023 – Best Act.

“One of the most unique performers on the UK comedy circuit today.”

…With further supporting acts to follow!
