Confusions is now ‘live’!

Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2024, Confusions is a cover title for a sequence of interconnected one act plays by the much-loved Alan Ayckbourn.

Highlighting the many foibles of human behavior, we witness the farcical consequences of an overly ambitious Summer Fête; the trials and tribulations of a stay-at-home mum and one man’s bid to conquer loneliness with his own unique brand of ‘haute couture’.

Written in the seventies during a period of economic decline and growing uncertainty, Ayckbourn makes no apology for exposing the humiliation and heartache felt by many.

Occasionally dark but always funny, Confusions reveals the indomitable spirit of the stiff upper lip when confronted with a world where it never rains but it pours!

Five actors, three plays and a bundle of laughs from one of the most prolific writers for the English stage.

The Opening Night was an outstanding success with some rave reviews from our audience…

“Just been to ERT to see a medley of Alan Ayckbourn plays…..brilliantly done with great acting and many laughs. A great night out, plus ice cream. Well worth seeing, and in Beverley.”

“Well done to all the cast and crew. It’s one to brighten up the wettest week! Book tickets now.”

“I really enjoyed it. Very amusing and well acted. Highly recommended.”

“What a great Opening Night for everyone involved! Top quality acting, creative directing and a whole lot of fun, with characters everyone can relate to. Definitely worth seeing!”

“We had a splendid night out – a triumph. Well done to all involved!”

“Had a great evening. Nice venue, great cast, well performed comic lines and well observed stories. Would recommend to anyone wanting a pleasant night away from the rubbish on TV!”

“Tonight was the opening night for Confusions. The cast, crew, and everyone whio worked on this show should be proud of themselves. And I’m not going to lie, in places, it was as creepy as the opening set makes it look! But it was hilarious”
