“Paintings of my Home Patch”

Susan Beaulah’s parents escaped from the heavy bombing of Hull in 1940 to live in the village of Wawne where she was born and spent her childhood. Her grandfather farmed at Meaux Abbey and her brother Andrew still runs the farm.

Her teenage years were spent in Hornsea and her Art training took place at Kingston upon Hull Regional College of Art, Anlaby Road.

This Home Patch of East Rding countryside,Hornsea, Industrial hull and latterly Beverley provides her with an unending flow of inspiration.

The intense experience of painting outdoors, closely observing, for many hours at a time a special place heightens perception and gives the mundane a sublime magic.

Susan worked in London first as an art teacher and then a professional artist .Away from East Riding for nearly 30 years returning and connecting with her Home Patch has been inspirational and very rewarding.

Painting outdoors, on the spot she relives her early memories, connects with nature sees the beauty and magical qualities in the ordinary.in all around

From the open countryside… to the built up Industrial landscape in Hull.
