ERT PLANS TO REOPEN IN 2021 & RELAUNCHES ONLINE PROGRAMME

22nd August 2020

We are delighted at the government’s announcement that theatres can now begin indoor performances with socially distanced audiences.

The priority in ERT’s decision to re-open next year is the safety of our audiences, artists, and the volunteers without which we would not be able to operate.

Our goal in moving forward is that when we do open our doors, we can say with the utmost confidence that all ERT visitors will be safe, comfortable, and able to fully enjoy the entertainment on offer.

We are currently addressing all the safety issues involved in re-opening without ignoring the fact that the theatre must be financially sustainable whilst operating with a reduced socially distanced audience.

As an independent theatre with limited resources ERT must mitigate financial risks as much as possible and we remain cautious about re-opening too soon whilst the health situation remains unpredictable.

Please bear with us, of course we would love to open as soon as possible but will only do so once we are confident of your safety.

In the meantime, this September, the theatre is relaunching its online programme with an enhanced and more interactive programme of events, which will be available across social media and online via our website.

Our wonderful creative community are continuing to provide the colourful and vibrant entertainment, which will include musical performances, art classes and, for the first time ever, a full pre-recorded stage performance. That’s right, keep your eyes peeled for Spoonface Steinberg: a one-woman show performed by our very own Evie Gutteridge and directed by ERT’s Artistic Director, Adrian Rawlings – details on how you’ll be able to view the show to be announced shortly.

So, even though 2021 seems far away, rest assured that ERT are dedicated to bringing you continued high quality, independent theatre in the meantime.

Thank you for your continued support.
